Early Wawasee Days by Eli Lilly

The Syracuse-Wawasee Historical Museum commissioned me to redo the book: Early Wawasee Days by Eli Lilly. It is an interesting book about the Syracuse, Indiana and Lake Wawasee area and the early days of the town. There are many pictures in the book, and it is now available for purchase! Purchase Early Wawasee Days today, and give one as a gift.

At Curtis Smeltzer Graphic Design, I will do the best work I can every time. No job is too big or too small!

The Bargain Hunter Customer Website

The Bargain Hunter, based out of Warsaw, Indiana is expanding rapidly. There will be 10 stores within the coming months. I’ve been workng on their customer website, Bargain Hunter Stores lately, although it’s not done yet. I’m having fun with it, and the majority of it is viewable now.

I built the graphics from scratch in Photoshop, and played around with a flash version of the site before deciding that I could accomplish it in dreamweaver without flash, and still get the same look. Hopefully Google will like this version better than a flash version. I can at least tag the site and have it indexed predictably by them.

I have been studying up the S.E.O. technology that is available and I have been applying it liberally to all the websites I design and update. The website maintenance and updating business is the wave of the future. Rank well on Google, and you’ll make more money, surely.

A few new designs

This past week I’ve had a few nice new prospective new clients. The first client is The Victorian Candy Company in Shipshewana, Indiana. They will be featuring Brittle Brackle. I am designing a logo for them as well as a website, brochures, business cards, and possibly some etched glass.

The second new customer I have is dealing with ecojacks.com. At ecoJacks, based in Warsaw, Indiana, they reuse reclaimed bowling allies to make nice tables and other furniture. I found them in the Indiana Auto & RV magazine. I actually purchased some wood from them to make my new kitchen counter tops. (pictures of before and after my kitchen is complete are coming soon.

The third new customer is that I’ll be doing a website for the Mug and Brush Barbershop in Milford, Indiana. I went in for a haircut, and it turns out that the owner was going to give me a call anyways, but I beat him to the punch. I’m looking forward to doing his website design, utilizing his logo which is really fun.

A heavy Head

I will share my wisdom with you now…or lack thereof.

I got home as usual at about 7:05am from work. And I decided not to go to bed. This isn’t an uncommon occurrence on a Friday for me seeing as how I’m usually off for the weekend. On this particular weekend however, I am working Friday night.

We went to wally world for grocery items, and Natalie and I shared a lunch together w/o the kids. It was very nice. I’m tired.

We got back from shopping, and I got about 2 hours of sleep while Natalie went to the church for drama practice. When she came back we went to Luann’s house for the annual Bond family Christmas party. (Natalie’s mom’s side) I’m tired.

We got home around 9:15 or so and I got an hour nap before work. I’m tired.

Yesterday

Yesterday went better than I anticipated except that the funeral went a lot longer than I’d have liked. The eulogies were very good though, and I learned a few things about my grandma that I never knew including that I may have gotten my creativity from her.

The pie was also good. I do love the Baptist food!

Plans for one of the worst Mondays ever!

It all started last night ironically…around 12:00 am (the beginning of the day). I was at work, as I always am on Sunday night. We didn’t have much work to do, so the night went very slowly as we had to pad out our work or go home early.

I really hate going home early! I like full paychecks!

Now that I’m home, I can’t go to bed because I have my grandma’s funeral to go to. I’d be skipping it because I normally sleep at this time, but I am a poll bearer. Naturally, that isn’t a job you can ethically skip out on.

I normally go to bed around 8-8:15 in the morning. Today, I have to get ready to go to the funeral around that time for a final viewing at 9-9:30, the funeral starts at 10:30. The Baptist funerals usually last an hour or so at the church and then another 30 or so minutes at the cemetery. After that there will be a meal provided for the family at the church. I will be attending all of it because I’m catching a ride to this whole thing so I don’t fall asleep at the wheel on the way there.

So, I’m not going to get home until mid afternoon! yuk! Then to bed I’ll go. This means no supper, I won’t see my kids or my wife today, because when I wake up… time for work again!! Woo Hoo! At least it’s not every day that I have a funeral to attend.

To compound the problem, I just paid a ridiculous speeding ticket for driving 56 in a 55 at night through a 45 pmh “construction zone”. yeah, you read that right, 1 mph over the regular limit and guess the ticket cost…. $450!!!!!!

I don’t even have a few bucks for an energy drink until I get paid Friday.

Well that’s enough whining to last a while!

God will provide. He always does.

ciao
